After surviving a severe car accident, Kujan took up running to raise money for the Wheelchair Sports Club in Prague.

“Sometimes, just a split second is enough to make human life take an unexpected direction. I was honoured to meet some great and strong people during my subsequent treatment in the rehabilitation center in Kladruby, Czech Republic,” Kujan writes of his inspiration.

Kujan’s goal is to raise CZK 1,000 (ISK 6,400, USD 52, EUR 40) per marathon.

The runner says he has never been part of a sports club but now competes in marathons both at home and abroad to raise money for the Prague club.

He will pass through Höfn, Southeast Iceland, today.
