Iceland’s Second Eurovision Semifinal Tonight

By Larissa Kyzer

Iceland’s second Eurovision semifinal will be held on Saturday night at Háskólabío, starting at 7:30pm local time, RÚV reports. Five Eurovision hopefuls will perform, with two advancing to compete in the final on February 29.

Tonight’s semifinal will be kicked off by Daði Freyr, whose song “Is This Love?” was a finalist in Iceland’s Eurovision competition in 2017. This year, Daði is performing the song “Gagnamagnið” (English title: “Think About Things”), which he also wrote the music and lyrics for. Hildur Vala, the 2005 winner of Stjörnuleit 2, Iceland’s version of Pop Idol, will then perform the song “Fellibylur” (“Hurricane”). Next, Iva will perform “Oculis Videre,” Nína will perform “Ekkó,” (“Echo”), and Matti Matt will close out the evening with “Dreyma” (“Dream”).

Two performers will then go up against the winners of the first semifinal: Ísold & Helga, with their ballad “Klukkan tifar” (English title: “Meet Me Halfway”), and metal band DIMMA, with their song “Almyrkvi” (“Total Elipse”).

You can listen to all of tonight’s competitor’s songs (in Icelandic and English, when available) on the RÚV website. The second semifinal will be broadcast live on RÚV and will also be available streaming on their website.
