Culture festival for senior citizens

As part of the Winter Festival in Reykjavík, senior citizens in the Reykjavík suburb of Breidholt participated in a special cultural festival yesterday which included hot pot discussions, swimming, gymnastics and dancing.

The purpose of the senior citizen festival, which will last through Sunday, is to introduce the social and cultural events in Breidholt and to give pensioners a chance to participate and perform in those events, Morgunbladid reports.

The pensioners launched the festival by discussing politics in the hot pots in Breidholt swimming pool early in the morning, followed by a swim and water gymnastics.

After the trip to the pool, a public walk was organized to demonstrate that all members of society are important and to prevent the isolation of senior citizens.

In the afternoon a senor citizen sports festival was launched, during which groups of pensioners showed off their skills in all kinds of sports and dancing.
