The film will be shot by Jökulheimaleið, above the highland lakes Veiðivötn, among other locations, Morgunblaðið reports.
In other news, Hollywood actor-director Ben Stiller asked Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr, who is also an actor, to play a part in his upcoming film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which will be shot in Iceland, visir.is reports.
The mayor confirmed the news, saying, “I was asked to audition for a large American movie project.” However, it isn’t clear whether he got the part and/or will accept it.
Yesterday, the news broke of a large unnamed movie project that will be filmed in the Mývatn region in northeast Iceland, among other locations, and earlier it was reported that director Darren Aronofsky plans to film his new project, Noah, in Iceland.
The male lead will be played by Russell Crowe and it is possible that Emma Watson will also have a role in the movie.
In addition, the silent film Days of Gray will be made in Iceland this summer. It is an international project and the Icelandic band Hjaltalín will write the score.
Meanwhile, Prometheus, which was shot in Iceland last year, has premiered, and lead actress Charlize Theron described to the media how she feared the volcano Hekla would erupt during filming.
