Craftsmen meet in competition

Ísmót 2007 – The Icelandic Skills Competition, a contest between the best hairstylists, cosmetologists, goldsmiths, fashion designers, and photographers, will take place at the new Show Hall in Laugardalur, central Reykjavik, the first weekend in September.

The Federation of Icelandic Industries (SI), which has over 1,100 members, will host the competition.

Both professionals and the public are invited to watch the competitions, and to learn about the latest in design and fashion, as well as important things for good health and well-being.

In addition to the competition, the weekend will be full of expert lectures, classes, and shows in which businesses will display their products and services. For the first time in Iceland, amongst the businesses, salons in each of the competing categories will compete for the “Salon of the Year” title.

On Sunday evening there will be a dinner party with music and dance. Awards will be handed out for, among other things, the “Hairdresser of the Year” and the “Nordic Youth Skills” winner.
