Court increases salaries of officials

The Compensation Court, Kjaradómur, a special judiciary body that decides the compensation of certain public officials, increased the salaries of Iceland’s highest ranking officials yesterday. According to Morgunbladid the president of Iceland will now receive ISK 1,626,722 per month (about USD 26,000). The prime minister will receive a salary of ISK 989,862 per month (about USD 16,000) and other ministers ISK 892,799 (about USD 14,000). Ministers’ salaries are inclusive of their salaries as MP’s.

The Compensation Court also decided that the state prosecutor would receive ISK 632,922 per month, and that the state mediator and bishop of Iceland would receive ISK 611,519 per month.
