According to the National Audit Office, the cost of President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson’s presidential campaign was just over ISK 25 million (USD 217,000, EUR 193,000), RÚV reports.
Company contributions amounted to almost ISK 11 million, while private contributions were slightly over ISK 13 million (USD 113,000, EUR 101,000). Guðni himself contributed ISK 1.1 million (USD 9,600, EUR 8,500).
By comparison, the combined cost of all presidential campaigns four years ago was just over ISK 27 million (USD 235,000, EUR 209,000).
Guðni’s campaign received contributions from 860 individuals.
