Concerts Coming Up in Reykjavík

The third concert in an event series called Fuglabúrid (“The Bird Cage”) will take place at Café Rósenberg tonight, featuring musicians from different genres: young country-inspired Lay Low and old schooler Magnús Kjartansson.

Meanwhile, The Heavy Experience will perform at Bakkus to celebrate the release of its new album, a vinyl album, actually, released by Kimi Records in December. An electronic version is pending. The concert begins at 9:30 pm tonight.

Also, the record and cultural product store Havarí on Austurstraeti 6 will close shop for good on January 29, Morgunbladid reports.

Farewell concerts featuring various performers will be held at the store until then and visitors can take advantage of major closing discounts.

In other music-related news, listeners and employees of the radio station Rás 2 have named Jónsi’s solo album Go the best album of 2010, as announced last Friday.

Jónas Sigurdsson places second with Allt er eitthvad and Moses Hightower third with its debut Búum til börn.

Jónsi was recently nominated for the Nordic Music Prize along with Ólöf Arnalds.
