Ten fisheries companies control 51 percent of the total allocated fishing quotas in Iceland, according to skutull.is. The quota is split between 487 companies, a decrease of 15 percent from 2011.

According to the data from the Directorate of Fisheries, 50 companies have been allocated 82.5 percent of the catch limits for 2012/2013.
The same companies occupy the top spots as last year but some transfers have occurred due to the increased quotas for cod, skutull.is reports.
