Coast Guard Frees Whale Tangled in Net

The Icelandic Coast Guard helped free a humpback whale which got stuck in a stop net in Skagafjörður, North Iceland, on Wednesday morning.

As stated on the website of the Icelandic Coast Guard, the crew of the Gamma SK 12 contacted the Coast Guard shortly after 11 am yesterday morning to request their assistance in the release of the whale, which had gotten caught in the net which the boat was pulling. The crew had tried to free the whale but without success.

After several attempts the Coast Guard was able to free the animal.
