Club Iceland, a group of around 75 Japanese citizens who take a keen interest in everything Icelandic, gathered earlier this month to celebrate Christmas—Icelandic style. The Christmas party was held at the facilities of the Icelandic Embassy in Tokyo.
The party begun with an introduction of Icelandic Christmas traditions and stories of the 13 Yule Lads were told. According to Japanese journalist and member of the club Yuka Ogura, the attendees had never heard anything like it and enjoyed the stories very much.

After toasting in champagne, the party guests feasted upon Icelandic Christmas dishes. There was also a draw to win a roundtrip ticket to Iceland from a European Icelandair destination.
The members of Club Iceland, who come from various professions, such as photography, language and medical research, would like to get in touch with Icelanders who are interested in Japan and Japanese culture.
