Classical Music Prominent in Iceland This Weekend

Frum, a festival dedicated to “modern” classical music, will take place in Reykjavík Art Museum – Kjarvalsstadir this weekend. In an unrelated concert series, the Motet Choir of Hallgrímskirkja will perform in Stykkishólmur today and Reykholt tomorrow.

The choir is currently touring the country’s churches, having performed in Akureyrarkirkja and Blönduóskirkja in north Iceland earlier this week.

Frum is organized by the chamber group Adapter in cooperation with the Reykjavík Art Museum.

Its purpose is to present modern literature that has inspired compositions, yet are rarely played in the capital’s concert halls. Pieces by young composers, Icelandic and foreign, will also be performed.

Visit the festival’s website to read more about the program.
