Cindy Lauper to Play in New Reykjavík Concert Hall

American singer-songwriter Cindy Lauper, whose song “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” became a huge hit in the 80s, will play in concert in the new Reykjavík concert and conference center, Harpa, on June 12.

Lauper will perform all her greatest hits with her backup band, Morgunbladid reports.

Harpa will open next month and both opening concerts by the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy on May 4 and 5 are sold out.

A host of other acts have been advertised, including a concert by British musician Jamie Cullum on June 23 and a Bob Dylan tribute concert for the occasion of the legend’s 70th birthday featuring a number of Icelandic musicians on May 28.

Tickets are available on the concert and conference center’s website harpa.is and on midi.is (tickets for Lauper’s concert go on sale on Monday). Click here to read other recent news about Harpa.

In other news, two music festivals kick off in Iceland’s capital this weekend, Reykjavík Music Mess and the Reykjavík Blues Festival.
