Christmas Yule Lads App Released

By Iceland Review

iPad users no longer need to worry about not knowing which Yule Lad—the Icelandic equivalent of Santa Claus, one of the differences being that there are 13 of them—will drop them a visit. Icelandic software company Gebo Kano ehf. has released a Christmas Yule Lad Calendar app.

The app reminds users which Yule Lad is scheduled to visit that day and sends the information to the users Facebook page, so their friends can be reminded too, reports.

Information on each of the Yule Lads, as well as their parents—the trolls Grýla and Leppalúði—and the infamous Christmas Cat is also provided.

The app is available for free here. An English version of the app is expected to be released in the coming days.

The 13 Yule Lads (jólasveinar) come down from the mountains in the days leading up to Christmas to leave presents in the shoes of children—or a potato if they’ve been naughty.

The Yule Lads, which include Candle Stealer and Skyr Gobbler, are also known for playing pranks, stealing food and making a mess.
