Christmas presents for children in need

Minister of Social Affairs Magnús Stefánsson formally started a charitable collection of Christmas presents for disadvantaged Icelandic children on Sunday.

Stefánsson started the charity event by lighting the Christmas tree in Kringlan shopping center in Reykjavík at a special ceremony.

Shoppers are encouraged to buy a present for a child in need, wrap it up and put it underneath the tree. Fréttabladid reports.

Charities Mother’s Aid in Reykjavík and Family Aid in Iceland collect the presents and distribute them to children in Iceland who need them the most.
