Christmas Beer Sold Out in Iceland

beer_psChristmas beer was popular in Iceland this year, so popular that if someone failed to save a few cans for Christmas they have lost out on it. By December 21 the four most popular brands had sold 619,000 liters, which is a sale increase of 28 percent compared to last year.

The most popular Christmas beer this year was made at Icelandic brewery Víking, which saw a 50 percent sale increase between 2009 and 2010. The Kaldi Christmas brew saw a similar increase but notably the sale of Egils Christmas beer dropped by 11 percent, Morgunbladid reports.

The ever-popular Danish Tuborg Julebryg increased in sale by 13 percent and sold out early in December. There has been significant demand for it at ÁTVR (the State Alcohol and Tobacco Company of Iceland) since then so it is clear that it would have sold in higher quantities had it been available.
