Christmas Beer Popular in Iceland

beer_psThe sale of Christmas beer in Iceland was almost 130 percent higher during the first three days of sale than at the same time last year.

Tuborg Julebryg is by far the most popular brew with 32,100 liters sold, which makes up 43 percent of the total sale of Christmas beer in the first three days, as stated on the website of the State Alcohol and Tobacco Company of Iceland (ÁTVR).

ÁTVR’s Vínbúd stores of began selling Christmas beer on the third Thursday of November and the beer will be available for purchase until the last day of Christmas, January 6, Morgunbladid reports.

The most popular Icelandic Christmas beer is from Víking, which is followed by the holiday brew from Kaldi. The Vínbúd stores are carrying 12 brands of Christmas beer this year and seven thereof are Icelandic brands.
