The tradition hails from Denmark but various Icelandic breweries now produce special seasonal beer including before Christmas.

Last year, around 500,000 liters of Christmas beer was sold in Iceland, including 145,300 liters of Tuborg. Víking was the second most popular brand with 137,500 liters and Kaldi in 300 ml bottles came third with 59,700 liters, visir.is reports.
