Choir Performance of Messiah by Handel in Reykjavík

The choir of Langholtskirkja church in Reykjavík will perform the 1741 oratorio “Messiah” by George Frideric Handel tomorrow, May 20, at 8 pm.

The church’s chamber orchestra and solo singers from the choir will also perform. The concertmaster is Ari Þór Vilhjálmsson and the conductor Jón Stefánsson.

The choir first performed Handel’s “Messiah” in 1981 and Sunday’s performance will be its 24th at a concert. It was last performed at its 50th anniversary along with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
