The sixth annual Children’s Cultural Festival opened in Reykjavík this morning. The festival, which emphasizes children’s participation in cultural events, runs through Sunday, April 24. A choir of 400 grade school children sang the festival’s opening song at Harpa concert hall shortly before noon. The song, written by the band Pollapönk, emphasizes cultural diversity, which is the festival’s theme, along with children’s rights.
Close to 640 preschoolers, 80 kindergartners from Sigursveinn’s Music School, and the school’s 50-member band performed at Harpa today.
The festival offers a wide selection of cultural events, including photography, film, a library event, fashion and music.
