It only costs a few thousand ISK to park a private jet at Reykjavík Airport for 48 hours, visir.is reports.

After the first 48 hours, the tariff is lowered to ISK 680 (USD 5.65, EUR 4) per every 24 hours. According to Friðþór Eydal, Isavia’s spokesperson, the company that handles the operation and development of all airports in Iceland as well as all air traffic, this is similar to tariffs in other countries.

The people that use the airport’s services cover approximately 30 percent of its operational cost, with the sState funding the rest. When an airplane lands at the airport, its owner pays a landing fee, ISK 2,000 per ton, which, however, only applies to aircrafts weighing over two ton.

Fréttablaðið’s research into tariffs at similar airports reveals that landing fees are significantly higher in other countries, sometimes amounting to hundreds of thousands of ISK.

Moreover, no parking fees are charged at Reykjavík Airport for the first six hours after landing. After that, the fee is calculated according to the aircraft’s weight: approximately ISK 1,100 per ton for the first 48 hours and after that, ISK 680 per 24 hours.
