Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron said in an interview with nydailynews.com on Sunday that she has never experienced anything like acting near the volcano Hekla in Iceland—which scientists believe may erupt soon—while shooting Prometheus last year.

“I have never been a part of anything like this,” said Theron. “It’s quite shocking, it’s very stark and graphic and there’s jagged edges everywhere. I know there was a volcano that was about to erupt… I think we just had every ATV in Iceland standing by to roll us out of that crevice.”
Prometheus, directed by Ridley Scott, is a science fiction thriller set in the late 21st century where the crew of a space ship is led to a distant world in search of the origins of humanity. It serves as a prequel to the Alien movies.
The film will open in cinemas in a few days’ time.
