Changes Ahead for the Administration in Iceland

The Icelandic government has decided to undertake extensive changes and reorganization of the projects of ministries and institutions with the purpose of using available funds as efficiently as possible and prioritizing state operations in a new manner.

A 19-item list to that end was posted on the website of the Government Offices yesterday, ruv.is reports.

Among items on the list are: merging all of the district courts and all of the taxation jurisdictions, reevaluating the university system, reorganizing the police departments and closing down the Defense Agency in its current form.
