The Central Bank of Iceland announced this morning that it intends to keep its policy interest rates unchanged at 14 percent. This is in line with forecasts by the three Icelandic commercial banks: Glitnir, KB Bank and Landsbanki. This is reported in all the main media.
The bank’s policy interest rates have been increased six times so far this year, from 10.5 percent to 14 percent, and a total of 17 times since 6 May 2004. The next date for announcing interest rate changes has been set for Friday 21 December 2006.
