Cell phones soon surpassing Icelanders?

There are 40 fewer cell phones in use in Iceland then there are Icelanders.

273,000 GSM cell phones are used in Iceland according to a report from the Post and Telecom Administration in Iceland.

There are 20,564 long range NMT-cell phones being used in the country, and therefore the total amount of cell phones in use is 293,537.

According to Statistics Iceland there were 293,577 Icelanders in the country as of December 1, 2004.

Iceland Telco has almost 65% of all cell phone subscriptions. More than 65% of all cell phone subscribers use prepaid telephone cards.
