Cat Comes Close to Causing Catastrophe

A cat came close to causing a catastrophe last weekend on the Ring Road in West Iceland. The cat was a passenger in a car, driving north along the Ring Road by Hafnarfjall mountain when it got out of its crate, according to the Facebook page of the West Iceland police. The driver, trying to capture the cat, lost control of the car, which landed off the road after having collided with a car coming from the opposite direction and then another.

There were seven foreign tourists in the second car with which it collided. The driver of the car transporting the cat was injured and taken to the health clinic in Borgarnes, but the people in the other vehicles escaped without injury.

So did the cat, which was caught outside. Police estimate it has six lives remaining, but had the accident happened in the US, authorities might have put the estimate at eight, since people in the US believe cats to have nine lives rather than seven.
