Case Closed for Icelandic Art Student in Toronto

Icelandic art student Thórarinn Jónsson appeared before trial in Canada on Friday for placing an artwork which looked like a bomb in the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in November 2007 as part of his project for the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD).

According to Jónsson’s lawyer Clayton Ruby, Jónsson was sentenced to nine months probation, Morgunbladid reports.

The violation will not be registered to Jónsson’s criminal record and he will be able to travel around Canada without restrictions.

Ruby said he is satisfied with the results, but Jónsson does not want to comment on the case.

The prosecutor had demanded that Jónsson would be barred from certain parts of Toronto and that the violation would be registered to his criminal record.
