A rental car accidentally rolled into a lagoon at Bjarnarflag in Mývatnssveit, located in the northern parts of Iceland. RÚV reports. The car, which was rented by an elderly American couple, slowly rolled down into the lagoon after the driver forgot to put the car in Park. The couple was a short distance away, taking a look at nearby Námaskarð. According to Vísir’s interview with Karl Viðar Pálsson, who dragged the car back up to dry land, only a little bit of water had made its way inside of the car. The car was quickly dried and the couple continued on their way. Bjarnarflag is the smallest geothermal station operated by the Icelandic National Power Company, and also one of the oldest geothermal stations in Iceland. The surrounding area contains blue lagoons akin to the world-famous Blue Lagoon located in Reykjanes, Iceland’s south-western peninsula.
