Captain accuses Venezuelan woman of lies

An Icelandic captain who has been sued for assault by his former girlfriend, a Venezuelan woman who claims to have been smuggled to Iceland, accuses her of lies. He says he neither assaulted her nor smuggled her to Iceland.

“She arrived with me in Keflavík in the summer of 2006 after flying from Venezuela to the US a few days earlier. The fact that the aircraft in question was a cargo airplane is a minor point,” the captain, who was not named, explained in a statement published in Morgunbladid today.

“During the customs check I announced the arrival of three passengers, one Venezuelan and two Icelanders. […] There is no special exit for crew members as reported by Morgunbladid. We go the same way out as other passengers. The customs officer on duty announced the arrival of the passengers to his superior, asked the woman for a valid passport and then allowed her to enter the country.”

“It is true that she has sued me for assault, but that case is not finished yet. I believe she sued me in order to stay in the country. […] There was no assault. […] The truth is that she started a fight when I demanded that she leave my home. I should mention that she is a large and strong woman,” the statement concluded.
