Stefán Pálsson, president of the Campaign Against Military Bases – CAMB – will be the event’s speaker. The event’s host will be media personality Eva María Jónsdóttir.

As usual, floating candles and peace signs will be sold on the premises. Similar events will also take place in Akureyri and Egilsstadir.

The candles are floated to remember the victims of the nuclear bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6th and 9th 1945.

This is the 25th candle floating ceremony which takes place on the Pond to remember the victims.
