Candle Beggar Arrives in Town

The thirteenth and last Yule Lad, Candle Beggar, is finally here. Candle Beggar (Kertasníkir in Icelandic). He has a reputation for stealing candles from children. In the past, the candles were made of tallow and were therefore edible.

The Yule Lads, the Icelandic version of Santa Claus, one of the differences being that there are 13 of them, come down from the mountains one by one to treat well-behaved children to presents.
