From the first of July, tourists visiting Kirkjubaejarklaustur in the region of Skaftárhreppur will be able to camp in nearby campsites without paying the usual fees. Many of the campsites are located by some of the greatest natural wonders in the area.
In an announcement printed in yesterday’s Morgunbladid, Vestur-Skaftafellsýsla is said to be known for its spectacular natural beauty and diversity.

Activities in the area include hikes, drives to the highland, fishing and swimming.
Sport facilities are available in Kirjubæjarklaustur and they include an outdoor swimming pool.
