The price of Icelandic snuff increased by 60 percent on January 1. You can now purchase a can of it at Hagkaup stores for ISK 3,058 (USD 26.66, EUR 25.68), according to Vísir.
The state-run ÁTVR, which operates Icelandic liquor stores, sells the snuff wholesale to stores. Before the price increase, the wholesale price for 20 cans was ISK 29,260 (USD 255, EUR 246), but is now ISK 47,053 (USD 410, EUR 395).
The price of cigarettes went up as well, but only by 4.7 percent.
