Buyer’s market prevails in Reykjavík real estate

A total of 107 real estate contracts were finalized last week in the Greater Reykjavík Area, according to The Land Registry of Iceland and reported by RÚV online. This is a substantially lower average than that of the last 12 weeks, in which 135 real estate contracts were finalized per week. Experts say that it is now a buyer’s market in Icelandic real estate, after several years in which the reverse was the case.

The total turnover of real estate transactions in Reykjavík last week was just over ISK 2.7 billion, with the average amount of each transaction being ISK 25.5 million.
