Busy Day for Paramedics, Coast Guard and Hospital Staff

The employees of the Landspítali national hospital in Reykjavík were under considerable strain yesterday. In addition to a man driving the body of a woman to the hospital, claiming to have killed her, ambulances were called out to respond to several accidents.

Nine people were taken to the emergency room after unfortunate circumstances caused toxic fumes to be released in the kitchen of Harpa, the new concert and conference center. No one was seriously harmed, Morgunbladid reports.

An SUV was driven into a stone wall on Saebraut in Reykjavík after the driver went into cardiac arrest, according to Fréttabladid. Paramedics managed to resuscitate him at the scene.

Furthermore, a Coast Guard helicopter was called to the Dalir region in west Iceland after a couple was in a traffic accident and flew them to hospital in Reykjavík and later had to fetch a woman from Mt. Esja outside the capital after a hiking incident there.
