Bus passengers are being praised for rushing to the scene of a car accident and helping the victims.
“We at Strætó bs want to express our thanks to the passengers on route 57A on its way to Akureyri around the middle of yesterday, for their assistance and patience regarding the situation which arose on the way north,” a statement from the Reykjavík bus company says.
Bus number 57A, on its way to the northern town of Akureyri, drove past the scene of an accident near the farm Vagla, near Blönduhlíð, northwest Iceland. A car had spun on the ice and driven off the road.
“Our fantastic bus driver, Þórdís Mjöll Reynisdóttir called for assistance and bus passengers went to help the people involved in the accident in the meantime,” the statement says.
The bus passengers are said to have been “amazingly helpful” and worked together to tend to the driver and passengers involved in the crash. The incident delayed the bus by around 40 minutes, mbl.is reports.
Strætó, the bus company, has publicly thanked the passengers on route 57A for their excellent reaction in difficult circumstances. “We also hope that those involved in the accident are not seriously injured and make a full and quick recovery.”
