Iceland has been selected the favorite European destination by readers of the British daily Guardian, reports the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service. Last year Slovenia was the most popular destination and Iceland placed second. Icelandair goes from 14th place to the 4th as Brits’ the favorite airline for shorter destinations while Reykjavík places 34 th in the list of favorite cities, it placed 12th in 2004.
Ársæll Harðarson, marketing director of the Icelandic Tourist Board, said that this was considerable recognition for Iceland and the Icelandic tourist industry.
