The law firm was approached earlier this month. “They reacted positively and took on this assignment,” chairman of the Budget Committee Gudbjartur Hannesson told Morgunbladid.

The deadline for three of the parliament’s other committees to submit their reviews of the parts of the Icesave agreement they were assigned with expires today.

It is assumed that the Budget Committee will assemble tomorrow to review the Icesave bill and start discussing the 16 items which the government and opposition agreed to look into in further detail.

Hannesson said he cannot foresee how long the committee’s work will take or whether Icesave discussions can be finished before Christmas as the finance minister is hoping for.
