Left-Green Movement Chairman Katrín Jakobsdóttir arrived at President of Iceland Guðni Th. Jóhannesson’s residence Bessastaðir this morning at 10:30, RÚV reports. The President is expected to officially grant her the authority to form a government.
The Left-Green Movement, the Progressive Party, and the Independence Party have been holding talks for three weeks with the goal of forming a coalition government. Katrín is expected to lead the potential government as prime minister.
Parties will hold internal meetings tomorrow to vote on the coalition. Parliament is not likely to convene before the beginning of December.
