This year, the ram Bósi of Þóroddsstaðir in Hrútafjörður, Northwest Iceland, will probably have more offspring than any other ram. Well over two thousand doses of its sperm were sold last December.

In December, 44,000 doses of sperm were shipped across the country from sheep insemination stations, which is considerably less than in the year 2012. It is estimated that 31,000 sheep were inseminated, which is 8 percent of all ewes in Iceland.
According to the Ram Registry, Bósi is a white ram with an expressive head and rather angular horns, wide shoulders, broad and muscular back, and a fleshy stomach and thighs. Last year, his offspring showed great results with fertility well above average.
