The town of Borgarnes, West Iceland, has asked daily Morgunblaðið journalist Egill Ólafsson to write the history of the town. The book shall be finished in the spring of 2017, when the West Iceland town celebrates its 150-year anniversary, mbl.is reports.

Egill was raised in the town and has been a journalist at Morgunblaðið for 20 years.
Borgarnes (population 1,800), located 60 km north of Reykjavík, is home to The Settlement Center, which features an exhibition about the saga of Viking and poet Egill Skallagrímsson.
