More Roadworks Ahead
The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (Vegagerðin) says roadworks are currently under way across the country. Speed limits have been reduced at most work sites, and drivers are asked to take care and leave at least 50 metres between vehicles to reduce the risk of damage from flying stones.
The bridge over Jökulsá á Fjöllum will also be largely closed on weekdays from Monday until mid-September. Vehicles will be allowed to cross several times a day. The bridge will remain open at weekends and between 19.00 and 7.00 on weekdays.
