Bomb disarming practiced in Iceland

The bomb disarming exercise Northern Challenge 2007 began on Reykjanes peninsula near the new security zone at Keflavík International Airport in southwest Iceland yesterday.

Special emphasis will be placed on disarming terrorist bombs, Bladid reports.

Bomb disarming experts who have worked in Iraq, Afghanistan and other war-torn countries are participating in the exercise.

Northern Challenge 2007 is organized by the Icelandic Coast Guard with support from NATO. The exercise ends September 7.
