Body Found in Reykjavík Harbor

The body of a man, probably in his twenties, was discovered in Reykjavík harbor on Sunday morning. Since his identity was unknown, police requested assistance from the public. His identity was confirmed this morning but has yet to be revealed.

“I assumed that he might just have fallen into the water, perhaps hit his head and been knocked unconscious, so my first reaction was to jump after him,” Hrafn Davíd Hrafnsson, a 20-year-old employee of the Kolaportid flea market, told Fréttabladid.

Hrafnsson tried to save the man’s life, but once he had brought him to land it turned out that he was already dead. The reasons for his death are unknown—a police investigation is taking place.
