Boat Encounters Bad Weather, Brought to Safety

The rescue vessel Vördur II arrived in Patreksfjördur in the West Fjords last night with Gypsy Life, a pleasure boat which encountered difficulties due to bad weather on its route from Greenland to Iceland.

The two-person crew was unharmed apart from being exhausted after having been awake for some time. Yesterday, they requested assistance from Iceland, reports.

The trawler Gudmundur í Nesi was the first to answer the call and protected the boat from the surge until Vördur II arrived at the scene and took over.

The rescue vessel in Grindavík, southwest Iceland, also brought a boat to safety last night, a fishing boat which broke down southwest of Reykjanes peninsula yesterday evening.
