Bláfjöll Ski Area Opens Today

The Bláfjöll Ski Area opens today at 5 pm and will stay open until 9 pm, Vísir reports. Not every ski lift will be open, since ‘The King’ is down after being struck by lightning. The same is true for the ‘Magic Carpet.’ ‘The Queen,’ ‘The Rope’ and lifts for beginners by Bláfjallaskáli hut will be open, as well as lifts in the south area.

Expect long lines for purchasing passes tonight, since this is the first day of operation this season. To avoid queues, you can purchase day passes and half day passes ahead of time at the N1 gas station on Lækjargata, Hafnarfjörður, or at the N1 station on Ártúnsbrekka hill on your way out of town.

A bus departs from Olís gas station, Mjódd, at 4:15 pm and from Norðlingaholt at 4:25 pm.
