Björk Wins Fifth BRIT Award

Last night, Icelandic musician Björk won a BRIT Award in the category International Female Solo Artist at a ceremony in London. She was unable to be present at the ceremony, since she was recording, but sent a pre-recorded message: “Thank you so much, immensely friendly Britain for the absolutely best title ever! I’m going to enjoy very much being the best international female for a whole year. I’m very honored. Thank you.”

Other nominees in her category were Ariana Grande, Courtney Barnett, Lana Del Rey and Meghan Trainor.

This is the fifth time Björk is awarded a Brit Award, Vísir reports.

British singer Adele won four awards: British Female Solo Artist, British Album of the Year, British Single, and Global Success, but others awarded were James Bay, who won in the category British Male Solo Artist, Tame Impala, who won International Group, Coldplay, who won British Group, Iceland explorer Justin Bieber, who won International Male Solo Artist, Catfish and the Bottlemen, who won British Breakthrough Act, and One Direction, who won British Artist Video, pitchfork.com reports.
