Björk released a statement on Facebook this evening in support of members of the Russian girl punk band Pussy Riot who were arrested earlier this year for protesting against the Kremlin, mbl.is reports.

The women, who are on trial in Moscow, face prison if convicted.
In the statement, Björk expresses her opposition, “as a musician and a mother,” to their arrest for peaceful protest. The artist calls for the band to join her on stage for a performance of her song “Declare Independence.”
