Björk described in an interview with Morgunbladid that Volta had been thought of as a concert project from the beginning and saying that she feels like a kid in a candy store every time she organizes a new band.
In the interview, Björk also revealed that the most controversial song from the album, “Declare Independence”—which caused a fuss among Chinese authorities when performed in China—had originally been thought of as a joke.
