Björk to play in Iceland at Easter

Legendary Icelandic singer Björk will begin her 18-month world tour to promote her new album Volta in Laugardalshöll music hall in Reykjavík on Easter Monday, April 9.

A large band will accompany Björk in the concert, including a ten-piece female brass section of Icelandic musicians. Fréttabladid reports.

Volta, Björk’s sixth full-length studio album, is to be released on May 7. It contains ten new tracks and is written and produced by Björk.

Several artists participated in the project, including R&B and hip hop producer Timbaland, Mark Bell, who has worked with Björk since her album Homogenic, and Antony Hegarty, lead singer of Antony and the Johnsons.

Björk is also scheduled to perform at a charity concert to support sufferers of eating disorders at NASA in downtown Reykjavík on April 1, along with artists like Lay Low and Mugison. Tickets are available on www.midi.is.
